They are designed to produce a wide sound field, and minimize side wall reflection. Rare to find that design in a dynamic tower config. These are dipoles, with rear facing tweeter and midrange drivers in addition to the fronts.
Occasionally I would switched them to main when I want to get into head banging mode, because their overall bass response energy output is very good. My mains have been Mag 2.7, Mag 3.7, and currently Revel Performa. And 5O% of that was only on main channels. I have used them about 95% as secondarys to my main speakers in my dual preamp/amplifier surround stereo setup.
